Secret Story: The Most Beautiful Sound in the World
My daughter and I were having a chat about the “must have” birds to include in my Remember When Art Cards, Bird Series. She was adamant that I needed to include a kookaburra. And then, to mix it up, she challenged me to feature the colour purple.
It was on baby (this one’s for you purple lovers!).
I set about painting a kookaburra and loved the fact that this iconic bird symbolises laughter, happiness, optimism and the bright side of life. It got me thinking about laughter and how much it means. There’s nothing better than the sound of happy laughter with those you love.
I then had to work out what flower would not only work with purple, but also with the laughter theme...
It did hurt my brain a little initially I must confess. Until I had a lightbulb moment and realised the waratah was the perfect choice. Not only do purple and red look awesome together (in my opinion...), the gorgeous flower means “beautiful”. And truly, I hope you will agree, I decided that laughter is the most beautiful sound in the world.
Eucalyptus leaves were included because they ward off negative energy... (I don’t think I really need to say anything more about this, do I? I think you can work it out.)
Butterflies in this instance were used to represent hope and life. If life is challenging for you at the most moment and can’t laugh. I understand. Sometimes it’s so hard. If this is you, please look at the butterflies and remember there is always hope...
Finally, I included lots of arrows pointing upwards (because the only way is up baby), but also because they represent goals and protection. May your life be filled with the most beautiful sound in the world.
