Nature’s Abundance

‘Nature’s Abundance’ Original mixed media painting by Kirstie Page

Goodness this painting made me feel delighted, from the tips of my toes to the top of my head! Not only did it make me feel like I had immersed myself within a garden wonderland, but technically it enabled me to explore different methods of using colour and textures to create my artwork.

This painting was inspired by the back garden of my childhood - a kind of eclectic nirvana of unexpected plant combinations, sunshine, birds and lots of space to play.

To achieve my vision, I decided to feature the Australian waratah flowers which symbolise beauty. Star jasmine swirls because it used to grow in great abundance at my home in Canberra. I also felt it very appropriate given the bloom also has a hidden meaning of love and beauty.

I feel like part of the joy of childhood is taking delight in little things. To represent this, I tucked a little fairy wren into the artwork, ready to play. Can you find him?

I loved painting this artwork so very much that I've decided to create some more. I do hope you're enjoying sharing this adventure with me and that this painting made you smile!
