Secret Story: Close To Your Heart

‘Close to Your Heart’, galah artwork. Mixed media by Kirstie Page

Oh my! I was so happy to finish this piece - just like my cheeky galah, I wondered if I'd bitten off more than I could chew.

["Why include a complex background pattern Kirstie… Why?!" I whined to myself as I applied tiny dots of paint. For hours. And hours… The thing is, I don't know why I did; it just seemed like a good idea at the time. Ever feel like that?]

Symbolically, galahs represent all that is close to your heart and that seeing one is a reminder that there is always the ability for pain to be transformed into joy. I thought was lovely.

To further celebrate the theme of transformation, joy and love, I included Christmas Bell flowers, reminding you of joy to come.

Finally, eucalyptus leaves dispel any negative energy and butterflies remind you that there is always hope, love and resilience around.
