Secret Story: Into the Light

‘Into the Light’. Art Nouveau inspired artwork by Kirstie Page

I awoke this morning to the sounds of birds and sunlight streaming through my window, making me feel utterly content. It was such a beautiful way to start my day I decided wanted to capture the same essence in my next creation.

After some searching, I discovered the perfect quote to capture the feeling and inspire the piece:

'Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher.' William Wordsworth

My femme gazes slightly upwards towards the sky (or heaven), hope reflected in her eyes. A little robin sits in the corner - a symbolic choice encouraging us to accept change with joy. Robins also remind us to act with compassion. (I found it an interesting personal observation how my initial response was ‘toward others’, yet I realised it’s so important to extend it with ourselves - sometimes a much harder task.)

The background's golden, curved wave (seigaiha) pattern represents surges of good luck, power and resilience. Brachysome, an Australian daisy features, symbolising love, purity, innocence, beauty and new beginnings. Eucalyptus leaves help ward off negative energy. May you look at her and feel the light.
