Secret Story: Waiting for You

Kookaburras are one of my favourite birds to paint. Jacarandas are one of my favourite trees. It seemed destiny that they would come together in an artwork.

Symbolically, kookaburras represent positivity. Seeing one is a reminder to focus on the good things in life, to celebrate, laugh and shake off negativity.

This bird understands that sometimes life throws you one curveball after another. That your heart can feel heavy and every step a struggle

It is there through it all, silently watching. Waiting for just the right moment to make you smile and rejoice in the lighter side of life.

Yellow, the ultimate colour of joy, happiness and sunshine brings light and life to the scene.

Jacaranda blooms feature abundantly, a notable fixture across the Brisbane cityscape during springtime. Given this season is associated with renewal and hope I felt that it was appropriate to include. Symbolically, it's said that if a jacaranda blossom falls on your head, then it brings you good luck. The great news is that jacaranda trees have thousands of blooms on each and every tree. (I appreciate its generosity in spreading good fortune around.)

The background reminded me of water, soothing. Washing away negativity and bringing a fresh start.

It's worth waiting for those precious moments of life. If it's hard to find it in yourself, look up. You never know what you might find.
