Secret Story: Look Up
When others try to drag you downwards, look up, look out, and look beyond.
I’ve been thinking lately how the emotional chaos that abounds across the world at the moment is so pervasive that it takes great inner strength to not be drawn in and dragged down by it.
I decided to paint a reminder to take a moment to breathe; to look up and be reminded that beauty and peace and joy can coexist with moments of unease and dis-ease.
My femme is gazing upwards, an acknowledgement of how looking beyond oneself during challenging times can bring some sense of comfort, even if it cannot bring contentment.
Little cornflowers feature in my femme’s crown because they symbolise hope for a positive future. They’re also known to represent following your intuition. My thoughts in regard to this particular crown are that she’s aware of her own inner power, she’s harnessing its energy and using it as a special radiant shield against those who try to dim her light.
The orange behind her represents determination, strength and endurance. The triangles in the background were included because they’re a strong shape. The strongest geometric shape in fact. No matter where you put weight, they remain sturdy. I absolutely love that. I’ll never look at them the same way again.
Finally, I used a combination of both gold and silver metallic ink. Together these represent abundant riches. In this instance I’m not thinking of this term of the financial sense, rather the riches and joy of achieving piece of mind.
My wish for you is to please look up and feel comfort wherever you are. I see you.
