Take a Moment (Pause)
It felt so wonderful to finish this painting yesterday. Goodness the feeling of working with the colours, lines and shading really was an uplifting experience.
I mentioned in my work in progress post that symbolically Waratah blooms (the featured flower) means ‘beautiful’ and ‘seen from a distance’. I’ve been finding myself feeling like small things have been impacting me lately, making me a little off centre. These blooms remind me in the beauty of stepping back and looking at the situation (or feelings) from afar. It’s certainly been helping to give me perspective…
Now take a moment: if you look closely at the top of the flower, the shapes are all commas. Just like in grammar, commas symbolically separate two, parts. They in essence represent a pause, wait a moment. Just like I hope you have done looking at this artwork.
May this artwork be a reminder to stop, step back and just pause. Sometimes the rest of the world can wait…
